My name is Matt Ross. I am 29 years old (born August 22, 1972). I live in Huntsville, Alabama USA. I have been playing bass since I was 14. Some of my biggest influences are James Jamerson, Bootsy Collins, Jaco Pastorius, Paul McCartney and John Entwistle, to name just a few. I am a full time musician, teaching bass students and gigging 3 to 5 nights a week. I play with two bands. One is called Dragmatic and we are somewhere along the lines of Radiohead, U2, Foo Fighters. It is an all original band. The other band is called Five O'Clock Charlie and it is more of a blues driven, roots rock band, also with great original material. Check out www.5iveoclockcharlie.net

My main basses are 2 Fender 1960's reissues. One is sunburst with DiMarzio Model J pickups and the other is white with active EMG J pickups. I also have a Warwick Thumb Bolt On fretless, a Washburn AB 10 acoustic, a de-fretted Epiphone El Capitan acoustic, and two handmade Bluesouth Basses(a 4-string and a 5-string). I am currently in the midst of putting together another Jazz Bass. It is a Chandler body and a Warmoth neck. It has a Leo Quann Badass II Bridge and Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound P-J pickups. I just had it refinished with a silver sparkle paint job. I play through a Hartke 4-10 bass cabinet powered by a Hartke 3500 amplifier. For effects I use an Electro Harmonix Big Muff distortion, a Q Tron envelope filter, an MXR Phase 90, a cheap ass Arion Octave pedal, and my newest toy is a Dunlop Bass Wah Wah pedal.
